Good day, I am Just from the Netherlands Age 49 and only got MSFS not too long ago and never have done any sim flying prior. Loving the sim and looking to fly casually with some likeminded people. Mostly done landing challenges and a few VFR flights up to now and recently got the honeycomb yoke and throttle (and waiting for their pedals) I have not used any flight sim related software, like mapping or planning software, outside MSFS and am very much a beginner. I will look into these things so as not to make a complete fool of myself when I join in a group flight Cheers!

Welcome to the forum! You don't *need* the mapping software to join the group flights - it's very easy to "follow the group" - especially if you have labels switched on in Flight Simulator. Looking forward to flying with you

Hello! As Jonathan said, you don’t really need any mapping or flight planning software besides what the sim has built-in, the planning map and the VFR map while flying. But in my opinion, Little NavMap (LNM) really adds to the fun of flying and learning about airports, air spaces, terrain, etc. It’s free and easy to use for basics, but also very deep when you want to do more. Jonathan has made several excellent videos, covering many details. If you like it, you can plan and save flights in it and export them as MSFS 2020 .pln files to use in the sim.
