Hi all,
I'm not an MSFS user, mostly because I don't have a PC - I'm Mac based (for work) so it's X-Plane for me. Still, it's always good to hang out with fellow fliers, and you never know, you might even convince me to get a PC rig!
I'm 58, been an aviation enthusiast ever since I noticed those loud, flying things in the sky when I was very young. Had quite a few lessons for PPL in a Cessna 172 in Birmingham UK, but couldn't make it all the way due to time/money constraints. Been using flight sims since the very early days - something desperately primitive on a Sinclair Spectrum probably, and then various other on Atari ST, then Amiga 500 - there was an Airbus sim that came with a book of Jeppesen airport charts which I loved!
Lost touch with sim flying for many years, but just recently started watching various livestreams and tutorials on YouTube, and couldn't believe how much they've improved - the graphics, models, weather, aircraft systems... everything! So, I got a demo of X-Plane, loved it, even though I was mouse flying, but got the full version, Thrustmaster Airbus sidestick, full throttle quadrant with the speedbrake/flaps addons, and rudder pedals, and found it to be the most ridiculously enjoyable thing. Not just the flying, but learning systems, navigation, ATC, and the whole community aspect, of course.
I'm currently a freelance technical/historical illustrator, working from home for the last 20+ years (home being rural Hungary - long story!), have variously worked for management consultancies, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, CAA/NATS, graphic design studios all over the place and lots of other random stuff. I smoke, drink red wine (which I make myself from own grapes), am also interested in steam engines, astronomy, spaceflight, particle physics and anything to do with Macs. No social media presence to speak of.
